With vivid memories of the smell of turps & oil paints during her
childhood, Debbie has followed in her fathers footsteps somewhat by
"making time to paint", a priority next to raising her two sons with her
husband, Greg.
After many years of wanting to have a
play with paint, Debbie only picked up the paintbrush about 5 years
ago, and has uncovered a natural affinity for painting and drawing with
a particular passion for abstract, 3D and collage, with oil being her
favourite medium. Initially studying under the guidance of Janet Ann
Skinner and then at the Brisbane Institute of Art, Debbie gained the
foundations for developing a style of her own, feeling unrestricted by
what should be done.
Coming from over 20 years in the corporate sector, her art has taken
her on a completely different direction to what she coins her ‘serious
career' in Marketing & Business Development. Debbie has taken a 12
month sabbatical from her consultancy due to a recent health scare,
which until recently ran in parallel to her art, almost intertwining
her capacity to absorb herself in both her left and right brain - now
her creative streak can be let loose!
Debbie is an award winning artist in shows both here in Queensland and
in Victoria, recently winning a 1st, 2nd & highly commended at the
Samford Show. Her first exhibition was in Brisbane in 2004. She has
also been commissioned to complete a number of works for private
collections throughout South East Queensland and Victoria to tie in
with personal and business interiors or abstract themes.
